Speciality Foods of Africa (SFA) launched its Yobab Maheu, a baobab flavoured drink at the Traditional and Organic Food Festival held in Harare recently, generously supported with funds from the Ford Foundation. The inclusion of this drink in the Yobab Product range brings to five the number of baobab products offered by the brand.
Visitors to the Yobab stand were excited about the new product offering, loving the tangy citrusy taste of the new baobab drink. “This is a really delicious refreshing drink and baobab makes is so tasty”, said one happy customer. Some of the first time participants at the food fair were amazed that baobab can be used in making so many delicious food products such as cakes, jam, sauces, smoothies and other products.
SFA Director, Nyarai Kurebgaseka encouraged people to consume indigenous wild fruits especially baobab as it is packed with natural goodness. Baobab she said “has been proven to contain more iron than red meat, more calcium than oranges, more potassium than bananas and contains anti oxidants essential to wellbeing”. The day ended with a fun filled promotion which saw three lucky winners walk away with Yobab hampers.
